Progress Being Made
Boy, this process takes longer than expected. We are in the process of digitizing all the items we have recieved. The metadata is, of course, the first step. Then the sorting and prep work before the materials can be sent for digitization. For the most complete information including our inventories, please go to our processing site http://traildb.library.arizona.edu/. There you will see a list of all collections/series in progress. If you are interested in donating pieces, you can navigate to the inventory for each series. Keep us in mind if you are planing on withdrawing any government technical report!

TRAIL pilot site down
This is a quick note to let everyone know that the TRAIL pilot site in Hawaii is currently off line after some malicious activities. The staff at the University of Hawaii is working diligently to get the site back online.

Last Call for some US Bureau of Mines
Folks we are needing to finish up the following series. This is our last call for the following items. If you have an original copy you could donate for this project please let us know. Otherwise we may need to declare these series digitized without all the pieces. Our process does not allow us to hold open series indefinitely.
From the Economic Papers (EP) -- we need the following items
EP 11 -- The economics of strip coal mining
EP 13 -- Summarized data of time production
EP 15 -- Molybdenum
From the Technical Progress Reports (TPR) we need an interesting title
number 21 -- Testing and construction of a junk auto incinerator
And we also need one item from the unnumbered series call the Mineral Issues -- Taxation and the Profitability of of Mineral Operations in Seven Mountain States and Wisconsin (1989)
Please let me know immediately if you have a copy of any or all of these that could be donated to our project!

US Bureau of Mines -- Technical Papers
Many thanks to Linda Musser at the Fletcher L. Byrom Earth and Mineral Sciences Library located on the beautiful campus at Penn State. She has sent us a few spare copies of USBM Technical Papers. More importantly, she has assured me that she has a full set of these items, as does one of the GWLA libraries in Oklahoma. So if you have been waiting to make some room on your shelf, please consider donating your copies of the Technical Papers (or other materials noted on this site) still needed. Now is the time to complete this series.
The pieces needed can be found at:

Nuclear Regulatory Commission materials
We are starting a review of the series from the NRC (sometimes referred to as NUReg or NURC). If you have materials in this area you are looking to weed, please let us know. If you have information on which of the series are more important, give us a shout. And if you have any specialized local collections (which I understand may be extensive around nuclear facilities) we would like to hear from you!
Of course, we will not be reinventing the wheel (or redigitizing the collections) -- we have spoken with some folks at NRC and will be focusing on materials prior to their current digitization projects.

National Bureau of Standard content update
The digitization of the NBS Monograph series is virtually complete. Roughly half of the NBS Technical Notes have been sent for digitization, with more to come. And the entire NBS Circulars series (1-603) has just been shipped to Arizona for metadata work. Once that is done they will be shipped on for digitization.
Thanks go to a number of institutions for contributing NBS content, in particular Notre Dame. Also contributing substantial runs of NBS content were Michigan State and the Southwest Research Institute.

US Bureau of Mines -- Technical Papers inventory updated
Two weeks ago we received a shipment of Technical Papers (US Bureau of Mines) from California Institute of Technology. I updated the list of needed items from our early posting to avoid confusion. Many thanks to:
Tony Diaz at the
Geological & Planetary Sciences Library
for organizing this shipment.
Pieces still needed (willing to take any and all revisions as this series was revised often)
More AEC materials arrive for digitization
Many thanks to the Cleveland Public Library. We have just received 5 boxes of paper AEC reports at our central processing unit in Arizona. These items are unique and we will add them to our growing list of AEC materials known to exist in paper before they are digitized!
Thanks Robin Speigner for organizing this shipment.
